Very nice window A/C
Overall, this unit is a good choice in the 12,000 BTU range. I'm pleased with its energy rating and its cooling ability and it was relatively easy to install (but see below).

By the time you get to the 12,000 BTU size if you are installing it yourself or are very high off the ground, a chassis-insert design is the way to go. I'm not sure who invented it, but it's pretty common among window air conditioners these days and is definitely worth paying a few bucks for. If you haven't seen this design, basically what you do is install the exterior shell of the air conditioner, get that relatively light piece all firmed up, shimmed, and ready and then you slide in the much heavier chassis with the main works.

PROS: Energy efficient, cools very well.
Relatively easy to install (but see below).
Not too loud for the price.
Easy, intuitive user interface.
