Let's be clear: This is not a scale "eliminator" like it claims. It's likely that nothing is. We live in the desert with hard water. Scale build-up on our evap coolers is on ongoing problem, even though we drain the sump and hose off the pads every day. Cleaning solutions help remove some of the build-up but it comes back quickly. We tried one of these at the recommendation of a local parts dealer. It markedly reduced the scale build-up, and what scale does form rinses off more easily. It even gradually removed some of the stubborn scale that had formed before we used it, especially the scale film inside the cooler which it did eliminate. It didn't totally eliminate our problem but it does make it significantly easier to deal with. Of all the methods we've tried, including filters, this has worked the best so far.
